Job Purpose
The position is TEMPORARY, employment will run from September 2025 to February 2026 (to be confirmed).
British Sugar is the leading Sugar supplier in the UK and one of the most efficient Sugar processors in the world. Partnering with over 2,400 growers to produce home-grown sugar, supplying around 50% of the UK’s sugar market, we are proud to support a thriving Beet Sugar industry in Britain.
The role involves sampling process streams across a large manufacturing site, performing routine and ad-hoc analysis to support factory operations.
Responsibilities include:
* Safe collection of manufacturing samples from the factory.
* Updating laboratory sample inventory.
* Carrying out specific sample preparation and analysis according to instructions safely.
* Accurately recording results.
* Flagging issues and observations for discussion.
* Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
* Collaborating with team members to meet work schedules.
* Traveling to other British Sugar sites with team members.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Good communication and time management skills.
* Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
* Strong safety awareness.
* Basic IT knowledge.
* Experience in a laboratory environment.
* Scientific qualifications at GCSE/GCE level.
* Reliable, responsible, with personal drive and motivation.
* Positive, flexible attitude, pride in work and environment.
* Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
