Basic Purpose of Role
This role involves the production of robust financial statements including Management Accounts and responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations and all other financial information for coaching unit (LBU), whilst ensuring the timely delivery of the period end close process for the relevant (LBU) including the delivery of all required internal reporting and Management Information. The role will be responsible for the completion of Balance Sheet Reconciliations for all statutory entities within your LBU ensuring that risks and opportunities are identified and that all balances held can be appropriately justified and lead in the improvement of processes and procedures to ensure the highest quality of timely and accurate financial information.
Accountabilities
1. Production of periodic management accounts, reports and other financial information
2. Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for each period ensuring robust justification for balances held
3. Assist with external audit
4. Assist with tax related queries, PSA returns, statutory accounts etc
5. Assist Management Accountant and Financial Controller with budgets and forecasts as required
6. Support Financial Controller in explaining financial results to operational management teams
7. Maintain and produce external reporting requirements, such as concessions returns, local authority data requests
8. Maintain spreadsheet models in line with standardized processes and local terms.
9. Lead the delivery of a robust internal control environment ensuring compliance with all internal procedures and reporting standards.
10. Ensure that journals are posted within the required deadlines, are accurate and appropriately approved.
11. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of all financial and non-financial records
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
12. Computer literate – advanced Excel, Word. Power BI and SAP experience preferred but not essential.
13. CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE) or part qualified but working to complete
14. Commitment to work to deadlines
15. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work well within the team
16. High degree of attention to detail
17. Ability to learn and take responsibility of tasks quickly
