Overview
This is an international shipboard position on cruise ships. OneSpaWorld is a worldwide provider and innovator in the fields of beauty, wellness, rejuvenation and transformation across the globe on cruise ships and on land. The company focuses on health and beauty across spa, salon, fitness and wellness services, including traditional and alternative massage, body and skincare treatments, Ayurvedic treatments, hair and nail services, mindfulness, fitness, acupuncture, herbal medicine, pain management and Medi-Spa. OneSpaWorld is looking to hire acupuncturists to work in their spas on board cruise ships throughout the world.
Position Summary
An Acupuncturist administers high-quality acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatments to on-board guests. They must possess thorough knowledge of Chinese medicine modalities (acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, etc.) and be able to communicate those concepts to guests, while also understanding related body treatments. Excellent communication and product knowledge are required to provide wellness solutions that meet guest needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Meeting new people daily
* Conducting patient consultations to inform and educate clients about specific concerns
* Providing follow-up post treatment to ensure desired results
* Managing clients in unsupervised situations
* Developing friendly relations with the spa team and clients
* Understanding client problems and concerns
* Recommending acupuncture treatments and delivering outstanding guest service
* Presenting professionally in front of new groups
* Being a patient, sympathetic listener
* Ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, company policies and protocols
* Maintaining quality of work and accurate medical records
* Maintaining inventory and minimizing waste
* Being punctual for work and appointments
Education and Experience Requirements
Regular attendance is essential to performance. US acupuncturists must hold a current valid state license and/or be certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Acupuncturists educated outside the United States must have graduated from a program educationally equivalent to the US; programs are reviewed case-by-case and should include approximately 2,000 hours of classroom and clinical study.
* A minimum of 2,000 hours
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to successfully provide acupuncture treatments
* Ability to manage multiple treatment rooms simultaneously
* Ability to conduct an initial consultation and treatment in under 20 minutes
* Ability to conduct 10-minute consultations about acupuncture and Chinese herbs
* Ability to publicly speak on Traditional Chinese Medicine topics
* Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly, outgoing personality
* Comfortable working in a sales-oriented role (sales training provided)
* Strong communication and listening skills
* Must be a team player
* Basic computer knowledge
* Fluency in English required
Pre-requisites for Contracts
* US citizens must have a valid passport (within 6 months of expiry from contract end date)
* If not authorized to work in the US, must be eligible for a US C1/D visa
* Maritime medical exam completed and declared fit to work
* Successful completion of required training
