Overview
Trainee Shop Manager position in our shop located in Ponders End, Enfield, Greater London. This is a permanent full-time role with a structured 18-month training programme that leads to a permanent appointment upon successful completion.
Responsibilities
* Be fully accountable for your shop and ensure customers are looked after while shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean and tidy environment.
* Motivate and guide your team to be as successful and efficient as possible.
* Lead by example and participate in day-to-day shop operations in a busy retail setting.
* Control key costs including payroll, shrinkage and waste.
* Meet standards for customer service, cash handling, health & safety, stock management, merchandising and presentation.
* Take responsibility for recruitment, training and development of your team.
Training and Progression
* Initial training alongside an experienced shop manager to develop practical retail management skills.
* Period of running the shop with high support from the Area Manager.
* Approx. 3–6 months into training, assume full responsibility for your own shop (subject to performance review) while continuing management development with your Area Manager.
* Working towards a Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship qualification with Inspiro, our training provider.
* Support to upskill Maths and English if required.
* Completion of an independent end point assessment at the end of training.
* This is an 18-month training programme; upon successful completion you will become a permanent employee.
Requirements
* Experience as a team leader or supervisor in retail, hospitality or another customer-focused industry is desirable.
* A friendly, positive, hardworking approach; able to build strong working relationships.
* Trustworthy and reliable; able to work as part of a small team.
* Organised and able to remain calm in busy, high-pressured situations.
* Ability to ensure timely completion of apprenticeship work provided by the training provider.
Hours, Salary and Benefits
* Hours: 45 hours per week, across 5 days (per week).
* Salary: starting £31,392.52 with potential to £33,948.94 after 6 months, contingent on progress and achievement of KPIs.
