We are working on behalf of a leading, design-led multidisciplinary practice in the heart of Cornwall to recruit a motivated Assistant Planner to join their well-established and award-winning planning team. About the Role
You'll become part of a respected planning, architecture, and landscape team where planners are at the heart of delivering sustainable, creative, and achievable developments. The team is involved in:
Conducting planning appraisals to assess site constraints and opportunities
Preparing and submitting a variety of planning applications (including Listed Building Consent and Advertisement Consent)
Supporting planning appeals, including written representations and hearings
Liaising with Planning Committees, Town and Parish Councils, and statutory consultees
This role is ideal for someone early in their planning career who is eager to learn and contribute across a broad range of projects, while working closely with experienced planners, architects, and landscape professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and submission of planning applications
Conduct research and support planning appraisals
Liaise with clients, consultants, and local planning authorities under supervision
Support the team at planning committee meetings and public consultations
Assist in the preparation of planning appeals and supporting documents
Keep up to date with planning policy and legislation
About You
Working towards MRTPI accreditation (or recently achieved)
Around 1 + years' relevant experience, ideally within a consultancy or multidisciplinary setting
A strong understanding of the UK planning system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A proactive and team-oriented approach with attention to detail and time management
