Senior Land Rights Surveyor

Milford RES is working in partnership with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit a Senior Surveyor / Land Rights Surveyor to support major utility and infrastructure projects across London and the South West.
This role has a strong focus on agricultural and rural land. It requires a surveyor who combines technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills, someone who understands the realities of working land and can build trusted relationships with landowners, farmers, and local stakeholders while delivering commercially sound outcomes.

The Role
You will provide professional land and property advice across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, securing land rights and negotiating agreements that enable construction while maintaining positive and respectful stakeholder relationships.
This is a collaborative, delivery-focused position that may involve regular time on site or in project offices.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality land and property advice on infrastructure projects
Secure land rights including wayleaves, easements, temporary possessions, and acquisitions
Negotiate compensation claims fairly, with clear understanding of agricultural impact and reinstatement obligations
Work closely with design and delivery teams to align proposals with consenting requirements
Build and maintain trusted relationships with landowners, farmers, agents, and clients
Manage stakeholder communication proactively and professionally
Maintain accurate records, reporting, and KPI performance
Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, and best practice
Maintain CPD and remain up to date with legal and technical developments
Skills & Experience
RICS qualified, newly qualified, or qualified by experience
Strong agricultural and rural land knowledge (essential)
Experience negotiating compensation and understanding reinstatement principles
General understanding of infrastructure or construction methodologies
Familiarity with wayleaves, easements, land acquisition, CPOs, and environmental consents (desirable)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
