An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GP with Special Interest in post Viral Syndromes within our Post Viral multidisciplinary Team based at University Hospital Crosshouse.


Hours and Shift Pattern

Hours and Shift Pattern: 2 SESSIONS PER WEEK

This post is offered on a fixed term/secondment basis until 31/3/2026.


What you will do

The post holder will join a team of advanced NAHP clinicians as well as a psychologist to establish clinical quality, standards and potential pathway development within the team. The post holder will provide assessments, clinical care, multidisciplinary meetings and triage with the NAHP team, contribute to evaluation and audit. The post holder will work with the Service Manager to provide national feedback to Scottish Government if required under the Long Term Condition Framework and will sit on local Steering Group.

An agreed minimum number of sessions will be carried out in this post.

This innovative role has been developed primarily to support the development and clinical oversight of patients in the Post viral Service. Work is required to establish and maintain clinical quality standards, develop and initiate new systems of working and encourage and promote the development of Clinical Governance in the areas they are working in.

The post holder will join a team of advanced practitioners. The post holder will potentially be involved in the clinical assessment of individuals within their own homes. The post holder will be potentially expected to build on primary care national standards to develop local pathways in the management of more complex symptoms associated with post viral conditions.

There is an expectation that the post holder would be involved in the ongoing training and education of team members.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

* Certificate of Prescribed Experience from JCPTGP or equivalent
* Requires to be included on or eligible for inclusion on the NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s GP Performers List
* Recent evidence of continued academic and professional development.
* RCGP qualification preferred.
* A firm grasp of issues related to General Practice and the GMS Contract.
* Self-motivated, able to work without supervision, using own initiative to complete tasks.
* Able to communicate effectively and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Well-developed influencing skills combined with a facilitative and supportive style of working.
* Registered with a Licence to Practise at the point of taking up the post.
* A good understanding of post viral syndromes, the effects, impact, investigations and treatment options
