The role of Managing Director
Reporting to the Chair of City Bridge Foundation and the Town Clerk & Chief Executive of the City of London Corporation, you will be accountable for the overall strategic direction, leadership and management of the charity. In this role, you will work closely with elected Members acting as Trustee, provide strategic advice and ensure strong charitable governance, legal compliance and effective decision making.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the stewardship, maintenance and security of the bridges, including Tower Bridge as a globally recognised visitor attraction.
* Lead the Foundation’s charitable funding and social investment activity.
* Lead a senior leadership team and a workforce of around 160 staff, setting a clear strategic direction and fostering a positive, inclusive and high performing organisational culture.
* Promote best practice in charitable governance and funding across the City of London Corporation.
Qualifications and Experience
* Credible and experienced senior leader with substantial experience operating in a complex organisation, charity/non‑for‑profit sector or public facing body.
* Strong knowledge of charitable governance and regulation.
* Sound financial and commercial judgement.
* Ability to build trusted relationships with Members, senior officers and external partners.
* Commitment to values‑led leadership, equity, diversity and inclusion.
