Health Care Support Worker – London, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT)
Job Summary
Provide person‑centred care and support to patients in adult and older‑adult mental health wards across ELFT. Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver recovery‑focused care and ensure that patients’ voices are actively heard.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver direct care and support to patients in mental health ward settings.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to plan and review recovery‑focused care.
* Advocate for patients and ensure their perspectives shape care decisions.
* Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in line with NHS policies.
* Participate in reflective practice and supervision activities.
* Engage with patients who present complex, sensitive information and challenging situations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* GCSE level or equivalent.
* Completed or willing to undertake a Care certificate.
* Experience working in a care setting, especially with mental health service users.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong time‑management and ability to meet deadlines.
* Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Compassion, empathy, emotional intelligence, and self‑reflection.
* Knowledge of escalation procedures and when to seek professional advice.
Desirable
* GCSE Grade A‑C in Maths & English or Skills Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
* Experience dealing with challenging situations and complex, sensitive information.
* Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision.
* Understanding of mental health specialty and ability to manage unpredictable workload.
Contract & Remuneration
Band 3, Permanent, Full‑time. Salary £29,651 to £31,312 per annum (HCAS to be confirmed on appointment). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time.
Location
Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney, Newham, Forensics and other London sites. Mile End, London – E1 4DG.
