Responsibilities
* Provide technical safety input to the project/product team, and execute safety engineering activities in accordance with company processes, applicable industry standards, and best practices for safety-critical systems.
* Work within Flight Avionics to develop, deliver and support products and programmes for civil and military aerospace customers.
* Develop and sustain safety artefacts such as safety cases; identify and manage hazards and risks within multidisciplinary project teams.
* Support Project Design Authorities by delivering complex safety programmes across Thales products, systems and services.
* Apply Systems Safety Engineering knowledge to complex systems and influence design through Systems Safety activities and assessments.
* Collaborate with Bid teams to develop estimates and safety strategies for future business opportunities.
* Contribute to the development of Mission Management Systems or Secure Information Systems for military platforms; support in-service product sustainment.
Qualifications and Skills
* A degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area.
* Experience of Systems Safety Engineering in a complex, safety-focused and regulated environment (e.g., rail, aerospace, nuclear, or oil & gas).
* Experience in preparing complex Safety Cases and familiarity with ALARP principles.
* Experience in Systems Safety activities including FTA, ETA, CCF, FFA, FMECA, Hazard Logs, and System Hazard Analysis.
* Ability to work collaboratively in an engineering development environment to ensure Systems Safety compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
* Experience applying standards such as EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC 61508, Def Stan 00-056, Def Stan 00-051, ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, etc.
* Professional qualification or working towards a professional qualification (e.g., IEng/CEng).
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of work, many roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC).
