Senior Building Services Design Engineer - (Mechanical) role at Jacobs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the functional delivery of projects—often multidisciplinary—ensuring they meet scope, time, cost and quality expectations.
* Be a role model, actively supporting junior staff and contributing to team development, resource planning, and continuous improvement.
* Take ownership of your work and guide others, planning and prioritising tasks, checking calculations, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
* Manage client communications, scope and fees, and identify value-adding opportunities.
* Mentor colleagues, promote diversity and inclusion, and support strategic activities such as recruitment, budgeting, and policy development.
* Represent Jacobs in client meetings, strengthen relationships, and contribute to winning future work.
* Lead the Building Services Mechanical team in the UK buildings sector or manage small projects, delivering multidisciplinary design to time, cost and quality.
* Engage in projects across sectors including High-rise Residential, District Energy Systems, Aviation, Transport, Energy and Power, Water, Data Centres, Healthcare, and more.
* Work in a hybrid environment with 2–3 days in the office and site visits as required.
Qualifications
* Proven relevant design experience in building services mechanical engineering
* Degree in Building Services Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience
* Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES VE, and building regulation compliance assessments
* MCIBSE / MIET C Eng accreditation (or actively working towards it)
* Strong knowledge of UK building regulations
* Experience in sustainable technology integration
* Proven project leadership and people management capabilities
* Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
* Ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment
