Overview
Hours: 25 hours per week – Shift pattern: As and when required. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team. In this role you will assist the cook in planning, preparing and cooking meals and light refreshments, ensuring a varied and balanced diet for all service users and catering for medical, cultural or dietary requirements and personal preferences. The role also involves some paperwork, and you will deputise for the cook in their absence where appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Assist the cook with meal preparation and light refreshments. • Plan and prepare meals that meet dietary and cultural requirements. • Ensure all food is handled hygienically, efficiently and economically. • Complete required paperwork related to cooking and meal preparation. • Deputise for the cook as needed.
Essential Requirements
* Experience of working in a kitchen
* Basic food hygiene knowledge
* Willingness to participate in training
* Understanding of different cleaning materials and their suitability to identified tasks
* Understanding of varied diets, such as multi‑cultural, diabetic, vegetarian and low‑fat
