DelDOT is Now Offering Sign-on Bonuses for Engineers!
The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) recognizes its Engineers are a highly valued resource and play a critical role in ensuring the State’s infrastructure is safe, reliable, dependable, and sustainable. For that reason we are now providing monetary recruitment incentives to new DelDOT Engineers in accordance to our Recruitment Program Policy and Procedures.
The program provides recruitment incentives as follows:
Sign-On Bonus– Incentives are based on the position classification:
1. $4,000 Engineer I
2. $5,000 Engineer II
3. $6,000 Engineer III
4. $7,000 Engineer IV
Incentives are paid three months from the initial date of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DelDOT in the Engineer I-IV series. Must be a new hire to the State of Delaware or new to the Engineer classification series within the State of Delaware

This engineering position will work under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer and will perform multiple maintenance design support activities to help implement maintenance projects within North District. Responsibilities include preparation of maintenance contracts with CADD and other software, assist in the execution and management of the maintenance contracts, cost estimating and other design activities, and coordination with other DelDOT support sections and State agencies.

Essential Functions

5. Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications.
6. Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
7. Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems.
8. Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations.
9. Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
10. Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
11. Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance.
12. Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
13. Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.
