Overview
Radar R&D Foundation Scientific Software Engineer – lead the development of next‑generation radar data services to support the UK Met Office and national emergency services.
Responsibilities
* Develop operational data services exploiting on‑prem and cloud computing technologies to efficiently produce radar products.
* Support Met Office scientists and engineers to develop high‑quality code and implementations of their research.
* Collaborate with a motivated team to deliver projects that solve real‑world challenges.
Qualifications
* Graduate level experience in a mathematical, physical or computational science or related discipline.
* Experience writing and understanding Python code in a Linux environment.
* Use of good quality assurance processes in your work.
* Communicate scientific and/or technical knowledge accurately, concisely in different situations.
Compensation
Up to £42,724 annually, including an outstanding Civil Service pension, a Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) of £2,200 per annum, 27.5 days annual leave rising to 32.5 days after five years, and other benefits.
Eligibility & Security
Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK, have resided in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years (at least 2 immediately preceding the application), and obtain full security clearance within the first 6 months of employment.
