Job overview Specialist Education Mental Health Clinical Lead Band 7 £40,057 - £45,839 pa Location Black Country - locality base to be determined and agreed Hours 37.5 hrs JOB OVERVIEW We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health practitioner who holds a qualification in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to be part of the Children's and Young People's Mental Health Support Teams across the Black Country. Advert The mental health support team (MHST) has the opportunity to further develop work within the field of young people’s mental health and wellbeing and provides CBT, guided self-help, parenting, with a focus on development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing and the development of the think family approaches within the schools environment. Working for our organisation This post will form part of a Mental Health Support Team service across the Black Country. The post holder will be working as part of the MHST service, leading the teams in partnership with the other Clinical and Team Leaders to ensure the service provides early intervention and promotes good mental well-being to children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity for the Specialist Educational Mental Health Team Clinical Lead to provide high level expertise and knowledge of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders and support the development and successful delivery of the service in schools. The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with professionals in schools and parents/carers to affectively plan support for children and young people beyond one to one intervention for example assembly’s and supportive training. The post holder will be responsible for developing strong relationships with CYP MH services across the Black Country including CAMHS to ensure the most informed care pathways for children and young people. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day clinical supervision of staff with BABCP accreditation and those working towards it and leadership to the assigned MHST. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Main Duties of the Job · Effective triaging of referrals across the Black Country. · Provide specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the service. · Develop, implement and review a range of evidence based treatment plans informed by clinical assessment and the specific needs of the individual within their wider social context. · Provide clinical supervision, leadership to the assigned MHST and staff from all locality teams where appropriate. · Contribute to the development and delivery of CPD programmes for staff. · Working with MHST Team Leads to ensure delivery of the MHST action plan, highlight risk and plan mitigation, escalating where necessary · Reviewing the referral pathways, ensuring they are informed and being effectively utilised · Lead on developing relationships with other services that support CYP · Working closely with other professionals in schools, developing referral pathways and planning engagement with the schools. · Contribute and support strategic planning, ensuring the needs of children, young people, their parents/carers and schools is informing the development of the service. We are looking for a highly motivated mental health practitioner who is experienced in mental health problems and psychiatric disorders, accredited by the BABCP and will be expected to carry out in-depth mental health assessments including risk assessments where required. Applicants must have a passion for developing and working closely with other professionals in schools in order to develop referral pathways. The post holder must have experience of working with a wide variety of children and young people in a range of clinical settings. Experience in leadership role is important however we are looking for a candidate with the essential skills and values required to clinically lead and proactively support a busy team which is always adapting and changing according to need. This is an exciting time to join the service and this role will be key in driving forward the service and developing whole school approaches to mental health. Experience of recent working with schools and delivering mental health promotional collaborative work in such an arena is vital in order to be able to fulfill the role. Applicants must also have experience of providing case management supervision to CAMHS staff, student or other team professionals. Applicants will be need to have a genuine interest in working within Children and Young people’s mental health and wellbeing within the schools environment. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network and show enthusiasm when working with other agencies such as Schools, Public Health, Local Authorities amongst others as and when required. The salary range quoted is as per NHS Agenda for Change pay structures where applicable. This is based on the number of years’ working directly within the NHS at the advertised pay band. Experience gained with other NHS Trusts will apply, but candidates without prior experience working direct for the NHS would normally be appointed at the lowest point unless they can demonstrate the equivalent experience and then be eligible for incremental increases in future years. Medical and Very Senior Manager roles are exempt from agenda for change and subject to alternative remuneration structures.
