Energy Works Hull plant processes up to 240,000 tonnes per year of refuse-derived fuel (RDF), drawn from municipal, commercial, and industrial sources. It uses advanced fluidised bed gasification technology, it produces around 25 MW of baseload electricity, enough for approximately 43,000 homes. It offsets about 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, diverting significant waste from landfill. The Opportunity We are now recruiting for a Shift Operations Technician. In line with business, client and legislative requirements, the Energy Works Hull (EWH) Plant Operations Technician ensuring works are delivered to a standard in line with the px Group Operating Standard to provide safe and reliable plant operations You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence. Key Responsibilities Embed processes on site from the company operating system (COS) which have been assigned to you. Develop and execute plans to gain compliance where gaps exist. Own, update and communicate any changes to all operations procedures assigned to you. Provide start up, normal running and shutdown services in respect of plant systems and participate in emergency shutdown of the plant, if required. Working within operational targets and requirements, accurately monitoring the operation of the plant. As required, adjusting maximise plant efficiency, minimise cost, meet environmental compliance and ensure product specification. Carry out process analysis, interpreting general plant and distribution control system information. To ensure that associated logs and documents are updated. Carry out all assigned training and competency to a high level and efficiently. Support the shift managers for all operational activities on a day-to-day basis. Support the MPT staff providing them with sufficient information as to prevent loss of fuel supply to the gasifie Carry out any role assigned and execute the site incident management procedures as required. Support the Day Operations Technician with management of the engineering stores. Deputise for other site team members during holidays and times of absence. Portray the role of Shift Operations Technician in a positive and professional manner, completing and applying required development activities to maintain competence Be a site role model consistently demonstrating px’s zero harm SHEQ and risk management strategies, Company values, behaviors, policies, culture and practices. Additional hours may be required to support business needs. Minimum Requirements: NVQ level 3 / PPO 1,2 & 3 or equivalent in engineering, maintenance or process disciplines or equivalent Held an equivalent role in power generation, energy from waste or 24/7 high hazard operational manufacturing environments with line management experience IOSH working safely Safe System of Work processes and procedures: Permit to work & Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS). Demonstrable and detailed technical knowledge of industrial process equipment and operation Work collaboratively with other departments & third parties.
