Opportunity for an Environmental Compliance & Permitting Consultant to join our UK & Ireland EHS Team within the Environment and Energy business at consultant grade. You will play a key role in supporting the growth and success of the Environmental Permitting business in the UK and Ireland.
Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business, you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors through global framework agreements and site-specific commissions. You will support clients from process industries, manufacturing, and power generation companies in managing compliance for current and planned activities. AECOM also aims to shape good compliance practices for the transition to a low carbon economy.
This role suits a consultant with some post-qualified experience in environmental compliance and permitting, some health and safety experience, and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards is beneficial. The position offers flexibility in base location, with options including Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds, Manchester, or Nottingham, supporting hybrid working.
Responsibilities include:
1. Environmental Permitting: Deliver permit applications, variations, transfers, and surrenders across the UK and Ireland.
2. Environmental Assessment & Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation measures, and implement management plans.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Advisory: Advise clients on legislation, guidance, and BAT; ensure compliance with environmental laws.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Support regulator and stakeholder engagement; collaborate with EHS and Environment teams.
5. Environmental Auditing: Conduct audits to assess legal compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
* A degree in engineering or science or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in an industrial or consultancy role, with a successful track record in environmental permitting services.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
* Extensive knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation.
* Excellent report writing, technical review, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and in teams under tight deadlines.
