Overview
Axcis have a unique and exciting new role in Exeter with a SEND college who work with young people aged 16 – 25 years diagnosed with learning difficulties, Autism and sensory or speech impairments, as well as Social, Emotional, Mental Health. The college works in the community as well as in educational hubs in and around the city. The role is a 1-1 student support and enabler planning person-centred material to develop individual aspirations of the students. You will follow a curriculum including Math’s and English, devised by the College for you to teach and adapt in your style. You will be working 1-1 with the student in the community, safeguarding and risk assessment are an important part of the role, with managing behaviour as a desired skill to have for this role.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1-1 student support in the community and in educational settings.
* Plan and deliver person-centred materials to develop individual aspirations.
* Follow and adapt the college curriculum for Maths and English.
* Work on a 1-1 basis with students, ensuring safeguarding and risk assessment are managed to keep everyone safe.
* Support behaviour management as a demonstrated skill.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience as an educator, support worker or enabler, with understanding of vulnerability in young people; opportunities for those with the right attitude.
* Willingness to work in a role that may require driving; driving is desirable but not essential. If you drive, you must have business insurance.
* Role is 5 days per week, 9:00 to 16:00, daily pay £100 - £110.
* All expenses covered by the college monthly; wages paid weekly on Fridays.
* Must be eligible to work; DBS and other compliance checks may be required in line with DfE guidelines.
