Empowering Learning is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to education and require a nurturing, trauma-informed approach to learning.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping learners build confidence, develop positive relationships, and achieve both academic and personal success.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher within this SEMH provision, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
Support pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviours, and additional learning needs
Develop positive relationships that encourage engagement and attendance
Work closely with support staff, parents, carers, and external agencies
Monitor progress and implement strategies to help pupils achieve their potential
Promote positive behaviour through restorative and therapeutic approaches
Contribute to EHCP reviews and individual learning plans where required
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Has experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, SEND, or within alternative provisions
Demonstrates excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Has a resilient, patient, and adaptable approach
Understands trauma-informed practice and relationship-based approaches to education
Is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
Can build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching children or young people within a school setting
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Ability to provide satisfactory professional references
Right to work in the UK
