Patient Safety Partners are patients, carers, family members or other lay people who are recruited to work in partnership with staff to influence and improve the governance and leadership of safety within an NHS organisation. This is an exciting role, supported by NHS England to provide support and advice to the Trust, playing a key role in the development of a patient safety culture, safety systems and improvement activity.
Responsibilities
* Membership of safety and quality committees whose responsibilities include the review and analysis of safety data
* Involvement in patient safety improvement projects
* Working with patient safety specialist to consider how to improve safety
* Involvement in staff patient safety training
* Participation in patient safety investigation oversight groups
* Being involved in patient safety improvement projects

* Supporting effective safety governance at all levels in the organisation
PSPs should ensure that any committee/group of which they are a member considers and prioritises the service user, patient, carer and family perspective and champions a diversity of views.
