We are currently recruiting for a Hydraulic Design Engineer on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering company. The Role This position plays a key part in expanding the company’s existing engineering capability. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the successful candidate will be involved in the full lifecycle of hydraulic design projects – from concept development to detailed design and final delivery. Key Responsibilities * Design and detailing of hydraulic power units, cylinders, manifolds, and specialist valves. * Develop fluid power circuits and system schematics based on customer or project specifications. * Perform system calculations and component selection to ensure optimal performance. * Collaborate with production and fabrication teams to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities. * Provide technical documentation, including BOMs, test procedures, and project reports. * Engage in design reviews, quality checks, and support troubleshooting where required. Experience & Knowledge * Proven experience in hydraulic system design, preferably within a project-based or bespoke manufacturing environment. * Solid understanding of fluid power components, control principles, and system calculations. * Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes, tolerancing, and relevant industry standards. Skills & Tools * Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Autodesk Inventor (3D) is essential. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on mindset. * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork. * Self-motivated, highly organised, and detail-oriented.
