A Vacancy at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within the Suffolk Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team for the role of Fixed Term Specialist Occupational Therapist [Band 6] to join our team in the East of the County. The role is for 37.5 hours per week on a 10‑month fixed‑term position until May 2027 [Maternity cover].
The Suffolk Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team provides specialist individualised stroke rehabilitation to support patients and their carers in the first six weeks of discharge from hospital to home. Our interdisciplinary team includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Neuropsychologists, Assistant Practitioners and Rehabilitation Assistants.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality specialist rehabilitation to patients following a stroke in their own homes or communities, enabling optimal independence and maximum rehabilitation potential.
* Collaborate across the Suffolk Stroke Pathway to ensure a seamless transition from acute hospital to the Early Supported Discharge Team.
* Assess, implement and evaluate evidence‑based specialist treatment programmes for patients with a range of impairments and complex health needs.
* Supervise and support junior staff and students.
* Contribute to service development and data collection within Suffolk Integrated Stroke Services.
Qualifications
Dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist with a specific interest and clinical experience in stroke rehabilitation.
