We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Lecturer in Brickwork to join our Construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an industry professional or experienced lecturer to contribute to high quality teaching, learning, and student success at Sandwell College. You will be responsible for delivering and developing brickwork programmes, supporting students to achieve their full potential, and contributing to an engaging and inclusive learning environment. The role also involves working collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and external partners to enhance the student experience and ensure curriculum relevance. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching across brickwork programmes as directed by the Head of Section Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and continuous improvement. Act as a course tutor, providing academic and pastoral support to learners. Participate in course team activities to ensure high standards of delivery. Support the development of effective learner support systems. Contribute to the growth and development of provision within the Construction department. Undertake internal verification and quality assurance activities. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Level 3 qualification in Bricklaying (or equivalent industry qualification) Teaching qualification (e.g. Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification) or willingness to work towards Assessor qualification (A1/TAQA or equivalent) or willingness to achieve Hold a D32/33/A1/TAQA or working towards Hold a D34/V1 Experience of internal verification/moderation Demonstrate experience of preparing and evaluating appropriate learning materials Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications: ✅ Accepted Qualifications: DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) Certificate in Education PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) DET (Diploma in Education and Training) DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998). ❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications: PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) SFHEA (Senior Fellowship) Masters in Education TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, please get in touch.
