JOB TITLE: Despatch Team Leader Hours Monday to Thursday 7.00-17.00 Principle Accountabilities Primary responsibility the smooth running of the Despatch department, which includes running of machines, performing operations and producing good quality products, packing and sorting, client liaison and despatch and delivery of goods. Activities, Duties and Key Tasks * To apply quality control requirements as directed and report problems, ensuring the SOP is updated accordingly. * Prepare the Kanban orders and invoices for customers. * Prepare orders as per the outstanding order book and invoice the customer accordingly. * Manage the smooth export and import of goods required by the business and manage logistics with the suppliers. Liaison with third parties where appropriate to ensure the Company’s logistic requirements meet expectations and deadlines. * Oversee or prepare the pallets or boxes for despatch. * Raise PO for packing and manage packaging. * Identify and provide training to members of the team to provide them with the skills to undertake new jobs and review quality and quantity of outputs. * Ensure materials are not wasted by yourself or by the team and that scrappage is recorded accurately and according to Company requirements. * Lead the team – organise and monitor workloads. * Ensuring staff are working to prescribed timings and standards. * To participate and contribute to the quality of products/services to include participation in 8D investigations. * Report back to the Production Manager and attend meetings/participate as and when required. * Handle third party deliveries and collections. * Quantity of work output must be accurate and be met in line with deadlines. * To liaise with the Production Manager regarding staff performance and ensure that company procedures are being followed, and monitor times, including the monitoring of lengths of breaks and absences. Not monitoring staff sickness. * To maintain Company and accredited standards adopted by the Company. * To ensure that good housekeeping is implemented and maintained. * To take responsibility for addressing poor practices either personally or by pointing them out tactfully to staff members. * Liaise with the Quality Engineer regarding quality control practices, ensuring quality is implemented in line with Company practice. * Liaise with Customers as necessary in a timely and professional manner. * Control stock of finished goods – ensuring stock records are up to date on a daily basis. * Control goods in – book in raw materials on a daily basis. * Control internal stock movements on a daily basis. * Patrol as and when required in line with SOP requirements with responsibility for quality of output. * Ensure that parts are organised, sorted and packed in line with SOP. * Attend training as required and ensure personal development, relevant knowledge techniques, and skills are suitable and sufficient to meet the demands of the job. * Ensure that all health and safety standards and procedures are fully observed and adhered to. * To be responsible for own health and safety and to take reasonable care, commensurate with the position, for the health, safety and welfare of others within the working environment, which includes wearing, and ensuring others wear, the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). * To undertake all other reasonable duties commensurate with position or if directed by the Senior Management Team. * To undertake any additional duties that may be asked of you by your supervisor, which may include but not be limited to setting drills and jigs, creating invoices, packing slips and delivery notes, making deliveries using the company van, locking and unlocking of gates and exits, and any other task that contributes to the smooth running of the department and company. Person Specification Ability to work in a team Essential Ability to trouble shoot Essential Warehousing and stock management Desirable Experience in managing a Team Desirable Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Essential Good attention to detail Essential Proactive continuous improvement and can-do attitude Essential Desire to progress and improve systems Essential Ability to be flexible within the team Essential Must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle Essential Lean Manufacturing knowledge Desirable Understanding of Health & Safety legislation requirements Desirable Training will be provided as necessary
