We’re now recruiting for a Shift Support Engineer to join our Cold Rolled Products (CRP) department in Port Talbot. This role is vital in maintaining plant performance, leading engineering teams, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment. What you will do As a Shift Engineer, you’ll provide the first line of engineering expertise for the Cold Rolled Products plant. You’ll lead the shift engineering teams, diagnose and resolve complex faults, and ensure all maintenance and repair activities are completed safely and efficiently. You’ll work closely with Shift Managers, Day Engineers, and Manufacturing Teams to: Lead and coordinate engineering activities across shifts. Diagnose major plant faults and implement effective solutions. Ensure compliance with all safety and statutory requirements (PUWER, DSEAR, LOLER, COMAH). Manage maintenance work orders in SAP and promote effective use of the system across your team. Drive performance improvements through root cause analysis, preventative maintenance, and high-performance initiatives. Mentor and develop Shift Engineering Specialists, supporting skill development and training plans. This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise, leadership, and judgement will directly impact production performance and team safety. What you will need We’re looking for an experienced engineer who thrives in a high-performing, 24/7 manufacturing environment. You’ll have: A recognised qualification (HNC or higher) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Completion of a relevant craft apprenticeship or equivalent practical training. Experience in supervising or leading maintenance or engineering teams. A strong understanding of preventative maintenance, process safety, and compliance standards. The confidence to make sound decisions under pressure and communicate clearly across shifts. You’ll be proactive, safety-conscious, and committed to delivering continuous improvement every shift.
