Hours: per week | Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:45pm
Contract: Permanent | Term-time only ( weeks per year)
Salary: Grade E (Points 16–22) – £30,518 to £33,699 (pro rata £24,485)

Your new role
We are currently recruiting for a Pastoral and Safeguarding Lead to join a weing and inclusive primary school in Exeter. This is a key role within the schoolmunity, focused on supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, safeguarding, and pastoral needs. Working closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team, you’ll help ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in safeguarding or pastoral care, who is passionate about making a difference in children’s lives. The role is term-time only, offering a great work-life balance while still being part of amitted and caring school team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate safeguarding procedures and pastoral support across the school
2. Act as a point of contact for pupils, families, and external agencies
3. Support the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and practices
4. Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings where required
5. Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that prioritises pupil wellbeing
6. Work collaboratively with staff to identify and respond to concerns

7. Experience in a safeguarding, pastoral, or child protection role within education or a related field
8. Excellentmunication and interpersonal skills
9. Ability to build trust and rapport with children, families, and professionals
10. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting vulnerable pupils
11. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
12. Amitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
