Join our established but expanding Medicines Team at the North West Ambulance Service in this role leading on medicines related projects across our trust and supporting the governance of the medicines management in our Medicines Supply Hub.
Are you motivated to ensure there is the best medicines service? Do you have experience in leading projects and driving changes? Do you like variety? You would also be involved in the training and education of staff within our team and to our operational ambulance teams including undergraduates embarking on their paramedic careers.
Do you like things to be right? You would be involved in devising and conducting audits to give us assurance that we are doing it right and demonstrate compliance with regulations and processes.
Main duties of the job
* Understanding relevant medicines legislation and regulations and how to apply them and assess compliance against them.
* Project management – developing project plans, engaging with stakeholders & leading projects to be delivered to a high standard.
* Analysing complex data and summarising it into high level reports for multiple audiences.
* Possessing exceptional organisational, written and verbal communication skills with an inspirational can‑do leadership attitude.
* Acting as a good educator/trainer to provide the foundation for driving excellent medicines management across NWAS.
* Working within a diverse multidisciplinary team without patient contact.
* Driving long distances and working autonomously to fulfil parts of the role.
* Collaborating with other pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and medicines assistants within the Medicines Team.
* Being a permanent role based at the NWAS Medicine Supply Hub site in Preston at least two days a week and occasional Saturdays (≈4 per year).
* Being available for an assessment centre on 15th or 26th June with interviews held the same day.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training NVQ3 and BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science.
* Formal training on Good Distribution Practice or willingness to undertake training.
* Detailed knowledge of medicines legislation and how to apply it.
* Excellent knowledge of safe storage, security and handling of medicines.
* Understanding of current medicines management issues.
* Knowledge of clinical drug use.
* Ability to analyse, interpret and present a range of facts and information.
Experience
* Experience of working as a pharmacy technician in a pharmacy or medicines team.
* Demonstrated exceptional organisational and leadership skills.
* Experience organising own workload and that of the team to achieve tight deadlines; responding to changing requirements and reallocating tasks where necessary.
* Experience writing policies and procedures.
* Participation in audits and designing audits.
