My client situated in Bury is looking for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to add to their growing Engineering Division. Salary: £42,000 Shifts: 05:45-14:15 / 10.00-18.30 Mon-Fri Purpose: Apply engineering concepts and principles to ensure the optimization of site plant and equipment to achieve better maintenance, reliability, and availability of machines at all times. Main Duties: Initiate, implement & manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the food manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on planning, scheduling & preventative/predictive maintenance. Ensure the impact of machine breakdowns are reduced by promoting quick response & diagnosis or repair requirements so that the effect on the day to day factory production is minimal. Maintain the physical plant, all electrical & mechanical equipment, controls & fire safety systems. Monitor the use & inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies & equipment & initiate reordering when necessary. Provide schedules of work & keep records of work carried out as required. Service and maintain food industry machinery i.e. production/packing lines, thermo-formers, MAP packing machinery, portion controlled fillers, steamers, clippers, slicing machines. Be proactive in gaining a competent technical understanding of all the factorys machinery from suppliers & the internet. Work with the Project Analyst to identify areas in utility usage that can be improved. Review & evaluate the operation of plant equipment & systems to minimise unplanned downtime & to identify opportunities for improvement. Achieve maintenance operational objectives by contributing information & recommendations to strategic plans & reviews.Assist with planning & implementing plant improvements & expansions. Create & work to agreed engineering KPIs as part of the companys goal of continuous improvement. Ensure correct Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards are adhered to at all times. Prioritise the maintenance of the operational areas & be prepared to be flexible & available in order that company standards are continuously achieved. Coordinate & manage third party contractors on site in accordance with H&S & BRC regulations. Communicate directly with the Managers & Production Director to coordinate maintenance & repair work in process areas, using email communication to confirm plans & the Daily Huddle to promote what is happening. Be assertive and confident in making decisions and problem solving. Person Specification: Mechanical skills - hydraulics, pneumatics, belts, bearings and chains. Electrical skills - 3 phase motors, relays and contactors, motor drives. The ability to analyse, diagnose & resolve operational problems & emergencies. Excellent fault finding ability both electrically and mechanically. Assertive and confident in making decisions and problem solving. Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship preferable Basic computer skills and confident completing paperwork.
