We are currently seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant (SLSA) to join the school on a full-time basis from September.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with physical and sensory needs. The role plays a key part in helping students access the curriculum and develop independence through tailored support strategies.
The Role:
As a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Work closely with teaching and support staff to provide targeted support for students with physical and/or sensory needs.
Deliver specialist interventions and adapt classroom materials to ensure accessibility and engagement.
Use assistive technologies and alternative communication methods to aid student learning and inclusion.
Support personal care and physical access where necessary, maintaining dignity and promoting student autonomy.
Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews and liaise with external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with young people with additional physical or sensory needs, preferably in a school setting.
Be confident in using a range of support strategies and assistive technologies.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wider team.
Be calm, empathetic, and adaptable to the changing needs of learners.
Hold relevant qualifications or training (e.g., Manual Handling, BSL, VI/HI support) – desirable but not essential.
