We are currently seeking a passionate Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our Aseptic Services team, a key part of our operations, manufacturing life-saving chemotherapy drugs.

Your Responsibilities
Work as part of a team to:
* Plan the workload to ensure all relevant environmental monitoring is conducted according to the schedule.
* Reconcile all environmental monitoring samples daily at defined intervals for transportation.
* Perform growth promotion testing on environmental monitoring media.
* Undertake stock control activities relating to materials or consumables used for the Environmental Monitoring Programme.
* Perform environmental monitoring: Viable Monitoring – Active Air sampling, passive air sampling, surface samples – contact (RODAC) plates and swabs. Personnel samples: finger plates and gowning qualifications.
* Analyse the results of monitoring and escalate any Out of Specification (OOS) as per Standard Operating Procedures
* Identify microbial growths to genus levels using standard techniques.
* Undertake general housekeeping duties within the facility.
* Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on sources of microbial growth, and appropriate cleaning and prevention strategies.
* Arrange for the incubation of samples as appropriate temperatures including environemtnla monitoring plates, biological indicators and liquid media.
* Participate in sterility testing.
* Trend results and escalate adverse trends or objectionable organisms.
* Observe and actively promote Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as per company's policies and procedures.
* Provide training of environmental monitoring as and when required to assist business need.
What We're Looking For
* Microbiology degree qualification (or equivalent)
* Have a sound understanding of pharmaceutical microbiology and proven experience of working in a cGMP regulated environment
* Experience working with LIMS is desirable
* The ability to follow written instructions
* Flexible approach to work and tasks
* Methodical and accurate worker
* Ability to work in a team environment and ability to communicate effectively

Workers will be required to detect any minor imperfections, such as: Particles or contaminants in solutions, scratched or damage to sterile containers and misalignment in machine components.

Physical demands: The role often involves repetitive processes and being stationary for prolonged periods, working in protective clothing and maintaining aseptic techniques under demanding conditions.
High levels of concentration are equally important to avoid errors
Ability to follow instructions: Workers must follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) meticulously without deviation.
Commitment to hygiene and cleanliness: A strong personal commitment to cleanliness is critical, including strict adherence to handwashing, gowning and personal hygiene protocols.
Resilience under pressure: Aseptic manufacturing can involve working under tight deadlines and regulations
Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with machinery and aseptic processes is valuable for understanding and troubleshooting equipment
Comfort with using monitoring systems and understanding documentation is required
