Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving university and enhance its Estates & Facilities Management Team (EFM). As our Security Shift Leader, you’ll be an important part of an EFM Team that supports a community of over 18,000 students and 2,300 staff based on campuses in Brighton. The Campus Security Team is committed to building a diverse team of professionals whose role it is to create a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors, a place where everyone feels safe and welcome 24/7, 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
You will be primarily responsible for supervising one of four security shift teams, leading your team to establishing a secure and safe environment for staff, students, visitors and securing the University’s assets. You will also organise the team to cover all essential security duties, act as the main point of contact during non-core hours, make operational decisions or escalated to the Head of Security when appropriate. By monitoring standards of work and professionalism you’ll help maintain a secure and welcoming environment for all.
Qualifications
* Previous experience of working within a multi-site organisation that hosts a large number of staff and visitors.
* Strong interpersonal skills, able to supervise and mentor a team, and have the ability to make operational decisions.
* Excellent communication skills and problem solving, being professionally curious and able to engage with a diverse range of students, staff and stakeholders to grow a culture of safety and wellbeing.
* Professional resilience and a desire to deliver excellent service in challenging and often complex circumstances and environments.
* Ability to be a team player who embraces diversity and inclusivity, a person willing to go the extra mile to make a difference and help someone in need of support.
A driver's licence is required for this position, and a car will be provided.
