The Assistant Accountant plays a vital supporting role in financial reporting, analysis, and accounting operations for the assigned business area. This role assists in the timely and accurate preparation of accounts, reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis to enable effective decision‑making. You’ll work closely with the relevant Accountant, Administrators, Managers, and Finance teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, proper recording of transactions, and effective financial controls.
Responsibilities
* Production and detailed analysis of monthly management accounts
* Completion of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
* Preparation of forecasts and budgets in conjunction with Operations
* Support in analysis of capex and preparation of business cases
* Provide support to annual audit process
* Business partner to Contract Managers, advising on financial aspects to improve efficiency and performance
* Ensure all contracts within the remit are complying with Group financial policies and procedures
* Overseeing the performance of general finance duties e.g. invoicing, monitoring systems, and accounting
Qualifications
* Part‑qualified professionals progressing towards final qualification level (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
* Proficient level
* Experience with accountancy systems including WorkDay
* Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong analytical and numerical skills
* Effective communication and relationship management abilities
* Time management and organised approach
* IT proficiency
