Senior Housing Officer needed If you're a hard-working, reliable person then we want to hear from you. * Salary: £17.18 - £18.85 per hour * Location: Totnes, TQ9 * Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm * Till Dec 2025 with the possibility of extension Job Summary To ensure the effective, day-to-day management of the Council's residential portfolio, primarily a block of 9 self-contained flats in Kingsbridge, used for emergency homeless accommodation. The role is pivotal in providing practical support to tenants, facilitating their move-on from temporary housing to long term accommodation in close partnership with the housing advice team. Key Responsibilities * Property management o Oversee the operational management, tenancy sign-ups, terminations and responsive repairs management. o Monitor rent accounts, manage low-level arrears and provide advice on welfare benefits, signposting to necessary services with escalated queries. * Compliance and Maintenance o Conduct regular property inspections, fire safety, health and safety checks and liaise with maintenance contractors to ensure properties meet the required standard. * Tenant Support and Move On o Provide a structured level of support to tenants, including developing and reviewing basic support plans focussed on preparing them for and securing settled accommodation. Person Specification This role requires a dedicated professional with a strong blend of housing management experience and empathetic tenant support skills. * Proven experience in housing management, ideally within a social or temporary accommodation setting * Practical experience providing support, signposting, or advice to vulnerable households with a good understanding of the challenges associated with homelessness * Working knowledge of the regulatory legal framework relating to tenancy management, ASB and health and safety compliance in residential properties * Proven experience maintaining accurate records, tenancy files and safeguarding notes * Excellent communication skills, verbal and written * Ability to mediate disputes and clearly articulate complex advice to tenants * Robust and resilient approach to working with vulnerable clients who may present with complex needs * Proven ability to work autonomously and manage a dedicated patch of properties without constant supervision, whilst prioritising workload efficiently * Excellent IT skills and experience of using various systems * Full UK driving Licence and access to vehicle for essential travel Apply today!
