Overview
A Business Intelligence Analyst, or Business Analyst, is responsible for collecting and analysing data to identify trends and patterns that inform future business decisions. The role involves complex data modelling, designing data analysis methodologies, compiling reports, and presenting findings to senior management. The analyst works closely with various teams to establish performance metrics, create reports and dashboards, and communicate insights to guide business decisions and strategies.
Responsibilities
* Collect, analyse and model data to uncover trends and support decision‑making.
* Design data analysis methodologies and develop comprehensive reports for senior leadership.
* Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, catalogue, and other departments to identify areas benefiting from analysis, stock analysis, and PAR levels.
* Review data collection processes, assess validity of information from Genesis IMS, and reconcile data weekly to correct product discrepancies.
* Cross‑check data against GHX Catalogue, Supply Chain, Oracle, Integra, and EPR systems to identify stock wastage, expiries, and upcoming out‑of‑date items.
* Ensure compliance with laws governing data collection and processing, keeping policies aligned with current legislation.
* Identify anomalous data, investigate root causes and eliminate unreliable data collection procedures.
* Analyse inventory, supply chain and operational data to pinpoint inefficiencies and optimisation opportunities.
* Develop and maintain Genesis dashboards, reports and KPIs that support forecasting, stock accuracy, replenishment and warehouse performance.
* Work closely with departments and operations teams to define data requirements for the new Inventory Management system, both pre‑ and post‑implementation.
* Support the NHS Benefits Realisation Team in identifying savings and working with the NHSSC Benefits Realisation Team.
* Assist user acceptance testing (UAT) and system rollout by testing data flows, reporting outputs and end‑to‑end processes.
* Monitor system performance, proactively identify data issues, bottlenecks or anomalies.
* Act as Senior Super User to the department Super Users of Genesis IMS and deputise for the Continuous Improvement Manager as required.
* Validate data quality, reconcile discrepancies and ensure consistent data definitions across the platform.
* Translate business needs into clear analytical requirements and provide evidence‑based insights to support decision‑making.
* Prepare and disseminate weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly reports.
