Postdoctoral Bye Fellowships
Murray Edwards College seeks to appoint to Bye Fellowships up to ten post-doctoral researchers to start from 1 October 2024. Research can be in any field, but the College would specifically welcome applications from candidates from ethnic backgrounds currently under-represented in the College Fellowship.
The College will appoint no more than five researchers in the Sciences discipline and five in the Arts/Humanities discipline.
Applicants should already hold a post in a Department, Faculty or affiliated institution of the University of Cambridge.
Bye Fellows will be expected to play a part in the academic life of the College, for example, by supervising, participating in subject societies and/or attending termly graduate seminars. Theyare members of the Senior Common Room, and are entitled to two meals a week in College. They also have access to shared teaching space. They are paid at an enhanced rate (120%) for supervising members of the College.
Appointments are made for one-year in the first instance, but may be renewed on an annual basis for up to three years. Bye Fellows are asked to write an annual report on their research ahead of the renewal of their Fellowship.

We now seek to appoint a new Head of Philanthropy as a key member of the Development Team. Working closely with the Director of Development, President and wider Fellowship, the Head of Philanthropy will manage major gift prospect activity and raise funds to support the strategic objectives of the College. The Head of Philanthropy will manage and develop a portfolio of relationships and undertake prospect and donor visits, to ask alumnae and others for philanthropic support the College. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Head of Philanthropy will be responsible for managing the Philanthropy Officer.

You will assist the team in organising and delivering events, focusing particularly on our Summer Schools programme.

Murray Edwards College is seeking an electrician to form a crucial part of our maintenance team.
Our electrician is responsible for the maintenance of our electrical, security, fire, heating and mechanical wired systems. This will include the inspection and testing of the systems and planning of any required maintenance. The role requires proactive and reactive work across a wide range of challenges throughout the College and its buildings.
You will be a fully qualified electrician with at least City & Guilds, 17th Edition and be willing to work towards your 18th Edition. You also will have British Standard 7671, Test Inspection 2391 or earlier and PAT Certificate 2377.

Murray Edwards College is looking for Casual Waiting Staff to start work in the College Catering Department. The role will involve carrying out a variety of tasks to assist in the delivery of catering services in all the College rooms as required and maintaining a high level of food service. This is a 0 hour contract, with flexible hours of work during the day. A variety of shifts are available throughout the week, and a free meal per shift is included. The salary for Casual Waiting Staff is £10.90 per hour. No experience is required, as full training will be provided.
