Luo is a fast-growing fintech startup building real-time cross-border payment infrastructure for West Africa. Our platform helps businesses make international payments faster and more affordably. Backed by $4 million in seed funding from top investors—including the co-founder of Monzo and leading experts in cross-border payments—we are scaling rapidly across Francophone West Africa and beyond.

We’re now looking for a Head of Sales Africa to lead our commercial execution and local team expansion across the region.

Role Overview:

As Head of Sales Africa, you will take full ownership of Luo’s performance in each African market, starting with Francophone West Africa. You will be directly responsible for driving commercial results, hiring and managing local teams, and adapting our go-to-market strategy in each country. This is not a purely managerial role — we’re looking for someone who is extremely hands-on, able to go to market personally, close key accounts, and lead from the front.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Ownership:

* Drive sales and commercial development across multiple countries.
* Personally engage in high-stakes deals and strategic partnerships.
* Ensure commercial targets are met or exceeded in each market.
* Lead Luo’s market entry in new countries, in coordination with the founders.
* Tailor commercial and operational strategies to local conditions.
* Identify market opportunities and define priorities per geography.

Team Hiring & Management:

* Recruit, onboard, and manage Country Managers and local sales teams.
* Build high-performing, independent teams in each market.
* Set clear objectives, coach teams on execution, and ensure alignment with company goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

* Act as the main interface between local markets and HQ functions (product, compliance, ops).
* Share field feedback and contribute to shaping the product roadmap and support structure.
* Ensure operational and regulatory issues are addressed promptly.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

* Track and report on country-level KPIs.
* Monitor sales pipelines, deal closures, and team performance.

What We’re Looking For:

* Proven experience managing and growing multiple African markets.
* Strong background in B2B sales, with a willingness to sell directly on the ground.
* Hands-on, execution-driven leadership style — not just strategic, but operational.
* Prior experience in fintech, financial services, or high-growth startups is a major plus.
* Fluency in French and English is required.
* Willingness to travel frequently and spend time in key markets as needed.
