Lincat - Warehouse Operative, Components Stores Department – Evening Shift

We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operative to join our busy team working on the evening shift within the Components Stores area. The role involves working 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, from 2:30pm to 1:00am. The Warehouse Operative plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the warehouse, involving a variety of tasks related to receiving, storing, picking, packing and shipping goods.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Receiving and Processing Shipments
1. Unload, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against invoices and purchase orders.
2. Report any discrepancies or damaged items to supervisors.
3. Record receipt of goods using warehouse management systems.
Storage and Inventory Management
4. Safely store products in designated locations within the warehouse.
5. Organise and maintain inventory, ensuring items are correctly labelled and accessible.
6. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile with records.
7. Manage stock rotation, ensuring older stock is used first to minimise waste
Order Picking
8. Accurately pick items from storage locations according to pick lists or order sheets.
9. Use handheld scanners or other devices to ensure correct items and quantities are picked.
10. Verify that picked items match the order specifications (, item code, quantity, and quality).
Packing and Preparation
11. Pack items securely to prevent damage during transit.
12. Label packages correctly, including shipping labels and any special handling instructions.
13. Ensure that all necessary documentation accompanies the shipment.
Order Fulfilment
14. Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer specifications.
15. Ensure accuracy and quality of orders by double-checking contents.
16. Label and secure packages for delivery.
Shipping
17. Prepare and load products for outbound shipments.
Warehouse Maintenance
18. Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.
19. Operate and maintain warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
20. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Record Keeping
21. Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and receipts.
22. Use warehouse management software to track inventory levels and movements.
23. Generate reports on warehouse activities as required.
Essential Knowledge / Skills:
24. Previous experience in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred.
25. Ability to lift and move heavy items, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
26. Ensure accuracy in inventory management and order fulfilment.
27. Ability to maintain an orderly workspace and manage time effectively.
28. Effective verbal and written communication for coordinating with team members and reporting issues.
29. Proficiency in using warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
30. Certification to operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery.
