AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. A unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems, and be able to troubleshoot and solve most infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You will create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and convey Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support and can make decisions with independence while taking direction when provided.
You can execute small projects independently and work with your manager on planning and executing larger local projects. You act as an escalation point for junior technicians and understand all aspects of the equipment you support.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
* Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any one of the region’s sites.
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
* Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.
Basic Qualifications
* Data Centres are 24/7 environments. Willing to work rotating shifts (day/night) as well as weekends.
* 3+ years of Computer Hardware experience.
* 3+ years of Computer Networking experience.
* Willingness to wear a pager for communication in emergencies and on-call situations.
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field; applicable certifications or equivalent professional/military experience.
* Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
* Experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other commodity networking devices.
* Previous experience in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
* Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles. Travel between sites may occur.
