If so, we want to hear from you.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>To establish, maintain and develop professional working relationships with colleagues.</li><li>Follow all agreed Quality Assurance Mechanisms and contribute to the establishment and development of a quality service.</li><li>Adhere to policies and procedures including standing financial instructions and orders.</li><li>Participate in the Trust’s Development Review Appraisal process and, with line management, set objectives and development plans.</li><li>Ensure patient safety and comply with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.</li><li>Comply with the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.</li><li>Adopt a flexible and proactive approach to work.</li><li>Contribute to health promotion strategies internally and externally.</li><li>Implement safeguarding responsibilities for children, young people and vulnerable adults.</li><li>Take responsibility for controlling healthcare‑associated infections (HCAIs) and follow Infection Control Policies.</li><li>Manage clinical tasks: assess, plan, deliver nursing care, interpret assessments, administer medicines, maintain accurate records.</li><li>Provide teaching and training to junior staff, supervise pre‑ceptors, mentor students.</li><li>Participate in research and audit programmes.</li><li>Act as preceptor or mentor to new staff and support their competencies.</li></ul><h3>Person specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma)</li><li>Current NMC Registration</li><li>Evidence of continuing professional development</li></ul><h3>Knowledge and Experience</h3><ul><li>Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code</li><li>Experience of working in a clinical environment</li><li>Understanding of requirements for NMC professional Revalidation</li><li>Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team</li><li>An understanding of national, regional and local NHS issues</li><li>Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Excellent communication skills at all levels</li><li>Effectively prioritise and co‑ordinate own workload</li><li>Ability to de-escalate complex situations</li><li>Awareness of the need for confidentiality at all times</li><li>Computer literacy, e.g. experience of electronic patient record</li></ul><h3>Other</h3><ul><li>Frequent moderate effort for several short periods of time such as manual handling of patients and equipment</li><li>Frequent concentration required for drug calculation and administration</li><li>Dealing with frequent interruptions and competing demands</li><li>Ability to work within highly distressing or emotional circumstances, e.g. end of life care</li><li>Ability to communicate distressing information and in a challenging environment</li><li>Able to carry out direct clinical care as required on ward or department</li><li>Potential exposure to blood or body fluids</li></ul><h3>Equality, Diversity and Inclusion</h3><p>We actively cultivate a professional environment of fairness, equality, dignity and respect for all individuals.
