Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

We are working alongside a school dedicated to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of the students also have additional special educational needs such as speech, language, and communication difficulties; ADHD; opposition defiance; and attachment disorders.
The school follows a curriculum that:
* Meets the needs of children with a wide range of aptitudes and abilities.
* Is broad, balanced, and aligned with the National Curriculum.
* Includes methods and approaches tailored to the needs of each individual child.
* Supports the outcomes described in each child’s EHCP.
Position: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH and additional special educational needs.
* Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs.
* Support the classroom teacher in managing student behavior and fostering a positive learning environment.
* Help students develop social skills and emotional regulation strategies.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's education.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children with SEMH and additional special educational needs.
* Understanding of the National Curriculum and how to adapt it to meet individual needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
* Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
