White Horse Employment is proud to be exclusively partnered with Alvis Contracting LLP, a long-established, family-run agricultural business in North Somerset as they look to appoint a Part Time Finance Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected rural business at the heart of the West Country’s agricultural community. As Finance Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the day-to-day finance operations of the business.
This is a hands on, varied role where you’ll be supporting the senior leadership team with meaningful financial reporting and insights that enable key operational and financial planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take full ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
* Ensure integrity of data in Sage accounting software and act as the knowledge lead for Sage and finance queries across the business
* Manage the purchase ledger from beginning to end
* Manage/oversee the sales ledger, actioning credit control and aged debt reduction
* Manage the day-to-day banking and bank transactions
* Prepare and submit VAT returns, manage journals, the fixed asset register and year end stock valuations
* Prepare & maintain cashflow forecasts, produce monthly management accounts, detailed sales and debtor analysis reports with commentary plus quarterly board meeting packs
* Prepare year-end management packs for external accountants and assist in completing the year-end accounts and tax returns, plus answer/solve queries from the Partners’ own accountants
What We’re Looking For:
* A qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE), bookkeeper or finance manager with at least 5 years in a similar role
* Proficiency in all areas of Sage Line 50 Accounts is essential, together with strong Excel and reporting skills
* A self-motivated, highly organised and diligent person with excellent attention to detail
* A confident communicator able to present financial data clearly to non-finance colleagues
* A flexible, team-oriented individual with a continuous improvement mindset who takes pride in the accuracy of their work
The role is approx. 24hrs/week minimum with potential to increase hours in the long term. We are happy to consider applications requesting flexible hours/school hours as long as these are worked between our core office hours of 8am – 5pm.
