A Key Public Health Body has a temporary assignment available for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry at Craigavon Area Hospital. This is a critical role responsible for providing a diagnostic support service, performing laboratory analysis, and communicating results to clinicians. Key Responsibilities As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for a blend of technical analysis and laboratory operations: Analytical Duties: Perform routine tests associated with laboratory medicine and issue reports in line with standard operating procedures. Quality Control: Maintain analytical integrity by performing quality control procedures and implementing first line remedial action if necessary. Technical Support: Take responsibility for first line troubleshooting of analysers and equipment, and assist in the evaluation of new techniques. Operational Support: Assist with the supervision and training of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants. Systems Management: Ensure accurate entry of laboratory data into information systems and participate in departmental audits. Essential Experience & Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year post HCPC registration experience. Completion of the Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry. Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment (reasonable adjustments possible) Good interpersonal, team working, and communication skills. Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to work systematically, accurately, and under pressure. Understanding of GDPR, health and safety, and laboratory quality standards such as ISO: 15189. What's on Offer Role: Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6). Location: Craigavon Area Hospital.
