Job Specification: Building Control - Plan Checker (Remote) Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 ~10% Annual Bonus Location: Fully Remote (UK-based) About the Role We are seeking an experienced Building Control Plan Checker to join our team on a fully remote basis. The successful candidate will have a strong background in assessing plans for compliance with Building Regulations, specifically for projects falling under Class 2A up to Class 2F. You will play a key role in ensuring that submitted plans meet all statutory requirements, technical standards, and safety expectations. This role suits someone who is confident working independently, can manage their own workload, and has a proven track record in remote plan assessment. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed plan checks for projects within Class 2A-2F, ensuring full compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation. Produce clear, accurate, and well‑structured plan‑checking reports. Liaise with clients, architects, designers, and contractors to resolve technical queries. Provide professional advice on regulatory compliance and technical standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with internal procedures. Work collaboratively with internal teams to support the wider building control function. Ensure all work is completed within agreed timescales and service‑level expectations. Essential Experience & Skills Proven experience in Building Control plan checking, ideally within a private or local authority environment. Demonstrable experience assessing projects under Class 2A to Class 2F. Strong working knowledge of current Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and relevant legislation. Excellent technical judgement and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly. Ability to work independently in a remote setting. Confident IT skills and familiarity with digital plan‑checking systems. Desirable Qualifications Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Control, Construction, Surveying, or a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB).
