Role Overview
As an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the financial management and commercial delivery of major commercial and high-rise residential schemes. You will oversee the full cost lifecycle for mechanical, electrical, and public health installations — from early budget estimates to final account settlement — while collaborating closely with internal project teams, consultants, and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide full commercial management of MEP packages throughout the project lifecycle.
* Prepare cost plans, estimates, and budgets during pre-construction phases.
* Lead MEP procurement strategy, including tendering and contract negotiation.
* Manage subcontractor accounts, variations, and payments.
* Monitor project costs, cash flow, and risk to ensure adherence to budget.
* Provide accurate and timely cost reporting to project stakeholders and senior leadership.
* Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams to optimise MEP value and reduce risk.
* Conduct valuations, assess change orders, and agree final accounts.
* Ensure compliance with company governance, procurement processes, and legal/contractual obligations.
* Support the wider commercial team in delivering profitable, high-quality developments.
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar.
* Minimum 5+ years' experience as an MEP QS within commercial and/or residential high-rise projects.
* Proven track record with developers, main contractors, or large MEP subcontractors.
* Strong knowledge of UK construction contracts (JCT/NEC) and MEP procurement routes.
* Strong commercial acumen, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Proficiency in relevant QS software (e.g., CostX, Excel, or similar).
* A proactive, team-oriented approach with attention to detail and problem-solving skills
