Assembly Operative – Sub-Assembly

Location: Denham

Salary: £29,000 – £30,000 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Monday–Thursday: 08:00–17:00

Friday: 08:00–12:00

About the Role

We are currently seeking a skilled Assembly Operative to join our dynamic manufacturing team based in Denham. In this role, you’ll be responsible for assembling, fitting, and inspecting a wide range of components — from large structural parts to intricate precision assemblies, cables, and high-pressure units.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, fit, and inspect mechanical components and sub-assemblies to high standards.

Accurately interpret and work from engineering drawings, build instructions, and specifications.

Follow all departmental procedures to maintain quality, safety, and efficiency.

Perform self-inspection and quality checks in line with company and industry standards.

Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and lean manufacturing practices.

Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe, serviceable, and properly stored.

Handle all materials and components with care to avoid damage or safety hazards.

Report any unsafe practices, hazards, or defective equipment immediately.

Engage in training and adopt new processes as required.

Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organized working environment.

Typical assembly tasks include:

Bench fitting and detailed mechanical assembly work.

Installation of inserts, locking pins, adhesives, and threaded components.

Jig drilling, taper reaming, thread locking, crimping, and both manual and mechanical riveting.

Skills & Experience

Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions.

Working knowledge of health & safety regulations and COSHH.

Proficiency with hand tools, measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly techniques.

Basic computer skills; familiarity with SAP is an advantage.

An engineering apprenticeship is desirable, though not essential.
