Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.

We are looking for individuals to join our team from October 2025 to prepare for our grand opening in 2026.
The Opportunity
Do you love cooking and want to inspire young people with essential life skills? We're looking for Sessional Youth Workers to join our Training Kitchen team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
From teaching juniors the basics of food preparation to helping older young people cook full meals, you'll run fun, hands-on sessions that build confidence, celebrate culture, and promote healthy lifestyles. This is your chance to make a real difference by showing young people how food can bring people together while also supporting their wellbeing and independence.
What you'll do:
* Deliver safe, fun, and engaging cooking sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
* Teach the fundamentals of cooking, food hygiene, nutrition, and budgeting.
* Plan varied cooking activities that celebrate different cultures and tastes.
* Build positive relationships and encourage participation from all young people.
What you'll bring:
* Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (essential).
* Experience delivering cooking sessions with young people (or confidence and passion to do so).
* Creativity to plan engaging sessions for different ages and abilities.
* Experience working with young people from a range of backgrounds (including SEND).
* Energy, patience, and a positive, can-do attitude.
