The Vacancy
We have an opportunity for a Facilities Assistant to join our specialist housing team based at Wellington Court, Harbourne, Birmingham, with occasional travel to nearby schemes and Platform Housing offices when required.
The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for ensuring communal areas, facilities, and equipment are well-kept and clean to the agreed specification and standard. You will also support the delivery of events and activities within the villages, interact with residents, and respond to queries and concerns.

This is a part-time role, averaging 20 hours per week. You’ll work from 8 am to 12 pm, Monday to Friday (some flexibility can be offered) — ideal for someone balancing other commitments while making a meaningful impact.
*This figure includes your base salary of £13,159 per annum and an additional payment of £282 per annum.
What could you be doing?
1. Undertaking communal cleaning duties, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
2. Reporting any wellbeing or safeguarding concerns to the Retirement Housing Officer team.
3. Liaising with colleagues and residents to deliver a first-time-right service within the retirement village.
4. Assisting with the set-up, delivery, and cleanup of events, activities, and social functions.
5. Reporting repairs to colleagues promptly to ensure safety for residents and staff.
Some things we need from you:
* Experience in a cleaning role is desirable.
* Knowledge of health and safety related to cleaning, including COSHH and PPE use.
* A customer-focused approach with empathy.
* High standards and a desire to improve services.
* Confidence in using digital devices, ICT software, and systems.
* An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
* Full UK driving license is desirable.
