Responsibilities
* Lead the governance and strategic direction of Citizens Advice Bristol and support the Chief Executive to ensure financial sustainability, strategically focused work, and alignment with our values.
* Lead the Board of Trustees through our next period of strategic development and transition in a challenging funding environment.
* Provide strategic oversight, supportive leadership, and governance expertise; work with external stakeholders and partners.
* Facilitate board governance processes, chair meetings, and ensure effective board performance.
What we are looking for
* Leadership and strategic thinking skills
* Experience of governance (as trustee, director or executive)
* Commitment to our values of equality, independence, and compassion
* Understanding of the voluntary, public, or advice sector (desirable but not essential)
* Strong communication, facilitation and relationship-building abilities
* Confidence in working with external stakeholders and partners
* Candidates from all backgrounds encouraged; underrepresented groups in charity leadership welcome
* Experience as Chair not essential; board-level experience is highly desirable
* There are two pathways: Chair (full responsibilities effective January 2026) with handover starting late 2025; Chair Designate (initially Co-Chair) with handover and stepping into Chair by autumn 2026
