About the role
We are seeking a Senior Research Technician to work closely with researchers and clinicians in different areas of genomics and neurodegeneration, managing and organising the day-to-day running of the NG-LRS and NGS service. Duties will include sample and library preparation, platform operation, ordering consumables, organising samples, and undertaking data storage and analysis. You’ll also be responsible for training students and users in sequencing techniques, and collaborating and liaising with colleagues and researchers, both internal and external.
This is a great opportunity to gain training in short and long-read sequencing and bioinformatics and work with, develop, and advance state of the art technology and equipment while working on cutting edge research projects.
The post is available immediately and funded by Fidelity Bermuda Foundation for three years in the first instance.

About you
You’ll have a BSc in Biology or a related area and a good background in exploring new techniques in the lab, with patient biological material, databasing, and analysis. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to act on your own initiative are also essential for this role.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
