Trainee Estimator / Estimating Assistant

The Opportunity
We’re working with a well-established and growing contractor who is looking to bring in a Trainee Estimator / Estimating Assistant as part of their long-term growth plans.
This is an excellent opportunity for either:
* graduate / HND / HNC-qualified candidate looking to start a career in construction/commercial roles
or
* bright, proactive individual currently on the tools who is looking to step into an office-based position
You’ll be trained from the ground up, working closely with an experienced estimating team and learning how projects are priced, scoped, and won.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Assisting with the preparation of estimates and tenders
* Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project requirements
* Supporting with take-offs and cost breakdowns
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotesHelping build accurate project pricing and proposals
* Working closely with senior estimators and commercial staff
* HND, HNC, or degree in construction, engineering, or a related field or hands‑on site experience
* Strong numeracy and attention to detail
* Good communication skills and a willingness to learn- you need to be able to build relationships with clients and suppliers
* Ambition to build a long-term career in estimating/commercial roles
* A practical mindset with an interest in how projects are delivered
* Attending site visits with client
* Full training and development within estimating
* Clear pathway into a qualified Estimator role- client willing to pay for college/ degree for the right candidate and give time off for study
